Ah, hello. First of all, Thank you, Danke, Merci, Arigato, Gracias, really many thanks to all the members of Stargate Modding Group for your hard work and dedication to making such a well done mod. I have been a Stargate fan since....I'm not too sure actually, I can't even remember the first episode I watched, but I do remember it was some lazy day and I was just channel surfing and came to Sci-Fi. I had heard some things about Stargate, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis before but I didn't really make time to sit down and watch one episode....I was kicking myself a lot that day.
Sitting through just one episode of SG-1 just made me want more, then I migrated to Atlantis and I don't know why, but I just liked it just a bit more than SG-1, I still haven't seen the original movie that started it all and I guess I kind of should, though I know the original 'Stargate' is completely different from the tv shows I'm sure I'll love it as well.
But anyway this isn't the time for random fanboy jabber, I apologize for that, it's just when I first saw Stargate SG-1/Atlantis I couldn't help imagining what it would be like to have space battles or land battles just like that in game form especially after seeing all the Goa'uld/Replicator/Wraith/etc battles and of course the legendary 'battle' (though it wasn't REALLY much of a battle, heh heh.) of P3Y-229 in the episode, Camelot. IE: The Ori Invasion or however you want to call it.
....I was searching about things like that and came up with Stargate Worlds at first and was kind of sad that it isn't even finished yet and I still haven't heard back from them to be a Beta Tester(Damnit!), then that's when I heard about Stargate Empire at War, to say the least I was extremely happy and kicked myself even more for not buying Empire at War earlier on so I rushed as soon as I could and bought the Goldpack from Bestbuy for like $20 and after downloading this wonderful mod and playing it...well words can't properly describe.
Anywho....before this get's longer than I'd like it to be....I'm sure you'll ignore all that earlier stuff so it doesn't matter, it's kinda funny since I originally only wanted to ask about two or three questions which I will get to now.
While Stargate Empire at War is a wonderful mod I've encountered a few problems and I'm not sure if I installed it wrong or missed a patch or something I hope I can get it resolved, though it's not really a EXTREMELY important thing.
1. I'm still unfamiliar with the SG-1/Atlantis universe but during land battles I find that the Tel'tak in Skirmish is well, to put it precisely it's pretty much untouchable as in I can throw everything at it and missiles, drones, anti-air fire just completely misses (or well the missiles and/or drones just either miss or swirl around the Tel'tak a few times before exploding) the Tel'tak and the only thing I found that actually DOES hit it like about 50% of the time is infantry fire which does very minimal damage.
As I've said I'm not sure if I did something wrong I installed it in the right place, empireatwar/gamedata/mods yeah you know or I've missed a patch or it's supposed to be nearly untouchable or I'm just doing something wrong and there is a pretty easy way to kill it other than the methods I've listed. It's not exactly game-breaking but it kind of makes the Goa'uld slightly over powered and I've already put it in my mind to immediately destroy their airbase as soon as I can, I haven't tried GC yet but if it's the same as in Skirmish it just might be a bit game-breaking since I have no idea how to kill it. I have though been able to destroy Al'kesh's like any other flying unit.
2. Not really a problem just a kind of gripe really, but if it can't be fixed it's alright, but also concerning the Tel'tak, it's special is to deploy a squad of Jaffa, correct? Well when I try to do that it only deploys a single scout drone unit (is that what it's called? I forget already; that little robot thing that can self-destruct and is useful against infantry). Not really a problem, though it kind of is misleading as the summary of the special says 'Jaffa Company' or somewhere along the lines of that and all I get is a single scout drone thing.
3. Another sort of gripe but it's completely fine either way, but I don't seem to be able to get the blue glow of a established wormhole of a Supergate, I'm not sure if it's my computer or something, I turned up the settings to the maximum and still nothing, I can post my computer's system info if it's needed, but I'm not really all that concerned about it.
Also the Stargate's on land has that green color thing, damn I forget what it's called....but anyway if I could just add a small question to this one, does the Stargates do anything at all? not meaning the BBS ones of course, but the random ones on maps, I don't seem to be able to capture it no matter how long I leave Soldiers or Jaffa there, but if it's just for scenery it's really nice, though a DHD is kind of missing unless it's melded with the gate or something I never really got a good look.
4. This last question isn't really about any problems, just a curious question. Again I'm not too familiar with SG-1/Atlantis lore and only been able to see episodes on Sci-Fi (Damn them for not showing Atlantis anymore!) and this concerns the System Lord Anubis (or rather Ex-System Lord) which I've only seen a couple of episodes of him in. I was just kind of wondering if he really did have some sort of lightsaber type weapon or it wasn't possible to give him some sort of custom attack.....though I really haven't seen Anubis attack at all in the episodes I've seen him in, but I have a slight feeling that he was just 'given' a lightsaber for that reason so feel free to ignore this question.
Well, I better wrap this up I'm probably boring you all to utter tears or you've ignored/skimmed over the unimportant things either way works. Anyway, thank you again Stargate Modding Group and any and all whoever else past contributed to this absolutely wonderful mod and I honestly cannot wait for I believe Stargate Pegasus Chronicles is the name of the FoC version? But I'm a patient person so take all the time you need......but really I can't wait for the chance to control Atlantis.
You all did a fantastic job trying to bring Stargate to life quoting slightly from your 1.0 trailer and to me you absolutely delivered everything (well...almost, I wanna control Atlantis! blah!) you promised and set out to do and Stargate Pegasus Chronicles will be the next big step. Really it's quite sad there's absolutely no Official Stargate video games around (not counting the damned unfinished Stargate Worlds), I still can't believe they canceled that FPS game they were supposed to come out with, however that was a very long time ago, and Stargate Worlds STILL isn't finished, but well it's thanks to mods or well more appropriately thanks to developers like you for taking time to make mods like these. I've already been looking into other Stargate mods for games like Fleet Commander and Homeworld 2.
Heh, heh....sorry, you're probably completely sick of this now, but I had to type this again.
Thank you again, Stargate Modding Group.
