Well, the newest version of our mod with the best Ships is The Pegasus Chronicles. Unfortunately it has no Galactic Conquest so its multiplayer only.
The newest Launcher release:

How to install TPC:
You can download it by using the newest version ( currently 1.2.9 ) of the Launcher, start StargateTPCLauncher.exe then click on the Settings tab.
Notice there are tree tabs at the top: General, Advanced and Tunngle
Now in the General Tab, pleas check the "Steam Version" Checkbox, and on "Add Modlink to Steam" so the Launcher knows you are using the steam version.
Then please click the "tunngle" tab at the top. You will need the extra porgram Tunngle for onlineplaying, because the default multiplayer system ceased its service.
Click on "Dont have Tunngle yet" to download and install it. Once you got that please click there on "Need a tunngle accont?", it will lead you to theyr website. Just go through the sign in process to get your online account.
Once you did all of that, you close the settings box and go back to the Mainscreen of the Launcher, then please click on the Button at the top left corner, ( its important to have first the "Steam Version" checkbox checked before you do this ) it will then automatically download and install the mod and all its updates.
Pegasus Chronicles should then be startable through Steam.
How to install Stargate EAW 1.3:
If you want to play through a Galactic Conquest map, you want to download the old Stargate EAW 1.3, which is the newest version of the mod for the
classic EAW ( not the
FOC Expansion ) ( There is also a 1.3.1 hotfix which fixes some bugs ):
www.moddb.com/mods/stargate-empire-at-wa...-13-complete-version
You have to extract the Zip archive using 7zip or any other exrtraction program. Once you got it extracted to your desktop or where ever you wand it, open your computers workspace and go into your C Drive.
Then please click on directorys to follow this path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\Gamedata
Here you got your classic EAW installed, if there is no "Mods" directory in Gamedata please create one, and drop the extracted mod in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Star Wars Empire at War\Gamedata\Mods
Then start Steam and go to "Library" and right click on Star Wars Empire at War Gold.
Select Properties, then Set Launch Options. Type MODPATH=Mods\Stargate AFTER the sweaw so it should be "sweaw MODPATH=Mods\Stargate". For classic EAW.
Launch the game as normal (from steam), select EAW from the option box and play the mod.
To play the vanilla game (or another mod) just remove/change the MODPATH section from the launch options. ( exchanging Stargate for the name of the other mod )
I know, this will probably sound very complicated.
This is the nature of Computers and I cant make it any easier at all, Im sorry for that.
The main issue here is, we do our best to make the mod working, but the mod depends on many other software components like Steam, Tunngle, the game itself, and of course the adjustments of them. A bigger company would just buy the rights to include everything into a simple to use Installer or a Steam version with all components preadjusted and sell it, allready working out of the box.
But free projects like this allways require some minimal adjustments by the user, mainly because of legal reasons.
Hopfully you can follow this small guide.
