We try to stay close to the series if it makes sense game-play-wise. There are no uber-ships for each faction in Stargate that would fit to our concept/to do sth. like that. Though, some of the ships will be stronger in GC. (The Ori ships for example).

Suggestion:

It may be wise to change some abilities type "power to ..." to be permanent switchable abilities, like is the cover ability the infantry possess. Weaker bonus, weaker negative effects but permanent, for some ships will add some variability to those ships. For ex. you will send 3 asgard O´Neill class ships with power switched to shields as a bait, then rest of the fleet with power to weapons will come guns blazing. Another of changes that came to my mind is the ability to recall ships with damaged engines. You will get one of your more valuable ships ganked bad and you need to save it, so some time after the ship was last attacked an order will become available to pull the ship back. The ship will leave the map and if you win the battle, ship will survive. In case of lost battle, ship will be destroyed by the enemy. Last of the ideas is about Atlantis itself. Since power is the critical resource in entire Pegasus galaxy (ZPMs), the Atlantis itself can start as a building, that will become under players control after conquering the planet it sits on. Later on, with some ZPMs, it will be possible to activate various city systems, for ex. engines, weapons, sensors and various abilities, like creating human-form replicator heroes with various specialities, making them useful tools in spying on the enemy or blowing up his structures on the ground. (player will get zpm, plug it into the city, and for the energy output of the ZPM he can activate systems, making Atlantis a little planet on a planet)
Making ships like asgard Beliskner more multifunctional will allow for asgard Daniel Jackson class ships to become mobile long range sensor stations (example, I mean they can be more of a support, with abilities to repair ships, reveal map, research upgrades more than direct combat ship). As for the possibility to recall ships, if one obtains unique but very powerful ship and wants it being used for her full potential without seeing it blown in the first battle, something like recall will come in handy.

Nice Ideas Boriss, but that sounds like aloooot of work.
Every team member is currently overloaded with his own work, so I doubt anyone will have time to concider making these changes.

I never even thought about making them now, but as the time comes, this may be the way to make the game more like in the series.
It will be like when Beliskner boosts shields they will be stronger, but their heavy and medium plasma weapons wil have reduced rate of fire and reduced damage, while in weapon boost they may get longer range, allowing for ex. asgard ion mortar to fire from greater range than enemy combat weapons. I also got some ideas about ground combat. Since sg recon teams were known for their training in using stealth and explosives to ambush much larger groups of enemies, the Tau´ri basic infantry, SG Recon Team, will be small squad of 4 soldiers, with the ability to remain in stealth while not moving nor shooting and throw grenade, the way we saw it in series. You see a Jaffa patrol coming, you turn your recon team invisible and when they pass, bang them with grenade. They´ll never see it coming. Standart front-line combat can be the job of SG Marines. These ideas are, of course, for times when everything else will be smooth and running.

you mentioned yet unreleased patch 1.3, hows that going on? will it include some upgrade for goauld npc? cause as far as I see it, the goauld now forgets to gather resources, thus cant make ships

Most of the player-controlled ships already got an ability, though. Maybe for some GC-only ships...

Hi people,
I know its a looong way till GC is ready for release, but I got an idea for GC campaign that might be fun to try someday (in a year or maybe five). Core of the galactic map will be npc factions (goauld, tauri and wraith) while the player himself/herself will be assigned to command one specific part of that factions fleet, tasked with systém patrols, ambushes, escorts and some coop actions with faction main fleet. He/she will be paid for every quest completed, and will be able to use the credits to buy new ships for his fleet/buy upgrades/etc...
Hope you all are getting some proper feeling of pride for the incredible job of making this mod and keep fingers pressed to the future!
